When I’m looking for a good bar, there are a few things that are an absolute must: good food and drink, of course, but also the perfect atmosphere. A balance of energy, light, and good music is essential to a great happy hour, but with COVID upon us, it’s hard to feel comfortable spending an extended amount of time out in public, so these days I also look for good takeaway food to munch on after a drink at the bar, whether it’s good Italian, classic pub fare, or even halal food near me. Dining al fresco is always an option with their lovely front deck, or you can head out to my personal favorite, the TIK! Bar, a bustling and pretty outdoor bar that screens sporting events and popular open-mic nights. The menu takes on many pub-style classics that make for delicious takeaway near me, but my favourite element has to be the bar. The cocktail list goes on for miles, and their wines are sourced from all over Victoria and include other Australian and international wines that are tres chic. 

Two Birds Brewing

A bastion of Spotswood, the inner-west Melbourne suburb, this award-winning brewery  is a trailblazer in every way. Two Birds Brewing is the first Australian brewery to be owned by two birds- two women, that is! Their home-developed beers are sophisticated yet easily drunk and can be enjoyed at a backyard picnic or during holiday dinner! I love them for their delicious bar food, including some of the best takeaway burgers and chicken tenders I’ve ever tasted. They also offer beer delivery in addition to their takeaway, which is a genius adaptation to these new socially distanced times.

Dukkah

You can’t get better Middle Eastern food than this cozy restaurant tucked right into the heart of Spotswood. Their takeaway menu is one of the most diverse around, catering to vegan, vegetarian, halal, and celiac diets; seriously, this is some of the best halal food near me that I’ve ever had. Their boutique wine selections and beer offerings keep their bar fresh and delicious and complement any item on their menu, so you’ll be sure to walk away with good takeaway (stored in an eco-friendly container, of course) and a good drink. With popular live music and happy hours (once lockdown is over), a homey and relaxed atmosphere, and extensive delivery and pick up options for takeaway near me, you’ll feel comfortable in and outside this restaurant that exudes creativity, adventure, hospitality, and lots of love.
